Sustainability is not just keeping a forest intact, it applies to all nature within an environment: the forest, wildlife, fish, birds, water, soil fertility, clean air, aesthetics and recreational values. It also comprises human sustainability — striking a balance with the human need to live in the natural environment, too.

Molly Ferguson has taken careful measures to ensure that the natural setting of Little Glamor Lake will be conserved far into the future. Beyond her own personal efforts to nurture the land, she has taken the following initiatives:

• Continuous Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) of the Forest Lot
• Deeded covenant to secure sustainable development of the community
• Had a "green" cordwood cottage built, long before this design became popular
